Underwater Images from our Puerto Galera Trip, Dec 03

We returned to Puerto Galera during Christmas 2003 for a short dive trip. Three days, and three dives per day. The water temperature was around 25° C, which was cold but not uncomfortable with our 3mm full-suits. The weather was overcast on all three days. We dived at the usual spots (Sinandigan, Dungon wall, Sabang wreck, Sabang point, Monkey beach, West Escarceo, Canyons, Small La laguna, and The Hill) but not in that order. Canyons remains the best dive-spot for me in PG. Our final dive was a 11m deep dive at the Hill, where we specifically went to see the mandarin fish, and, as a bonus, had a great little porcupine puffer fish posing for us for the whole duration. We stayed, as always, with Atlantis dive resort. The dive masters were Sven (on most dives), and Pedro (on a couple).

Notes on the photography: I am still without a strobe, and tried some more control on the camera (Olympus C5050). Setting the ISO to 64 or 100 tended to underexpose by quite a bit, in "P" mode. So I reverted back to the full automatic mode, except occasionally using the force-flash, and sometimes switching to macro. I almost never use the Super-macro these days, finding that macro will focus as close as I go to anything. Clicking on the thumbnails below will take you to a larger image -- some images are slightly different from the thumbnails: I originally made the page using Irfanview, but later edited some images using Photoshop elements.

If you wish to use any of these images, you may want to get the original (most are 2-3 Meg each) and clean it up; send me email (joneja@ust.hk). I used Irfanview to make these pages, though recently I went back and modified the larger images using Photoshop elements, mainly to reduce the jpeg sizes.
