Below are some photos from our trip to India in Dec 05, Jan 06. We spent maybe two days of sight-seeing in Delhi (Red Fort, Edwin Lutyens' buildings at Raj Path, Akshar Dham temple) and a day trip to Agra (Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, and Akbar's tomb). Pollution is Delhi is marginally lower than before, and travel is faster -- but painful stll. Food has improved -- we tried a couple of new restaurants (Kabab factory and Punjabi By Nature), both excellent.
We did an 8 day trip of Kerala, landing at Cochin, and then driving down (rented driver+van) through Munnar, Thekkady, 1-day on a house-boat in Alleppy, and Kovalam. From Kovalam, we also visited the southern tip of India, Kanyakumari, visiting the Suchindram temple, Vivekanada Rock, and the Padmanabhapuram palace. This trip turned out to be pretty hectic, with too much time spent on relatively slow roads every day. A better itinerary would have been to head straight to Thekkady (spend 2-3 days in Periyar trekking), do a 1-day house-boat in the back-waters, and then spend the remainder of the time on the beaches of Kovalam.
