The treks of the first three days are marked on this map (left to right). The following is the itinerary for the first half of the trip.

Day 0. Arrive in Zurich, and take a train to Zuoz in the Engadine valley. This is a major tourist area, Davos is nearby and St. Moritz is in the Engadine. Stay in one of the older Swiss inns, the Posthotel Engiadina. Meet the guides and rest of the group.
Day 1. Try-out trek to the Es-Cha Hutte (Chamanna D'Es Cha), a net climb of less than 800m; traverse across towards Punt Granda, and return down the valleyback to Zuoz for a total of 8 miles.
Day 2. Morning: shop for lunch at local supermarket, then a short train ride to Spinas. Trek up to Piz Padella, gaining approx 1000m. Luch at the peak, trek down to Marguns, and ski lift down the hill. From there we journey to the hotel Steinboch in Pontresina.
Day 3. We traveled (going right on the map) to the Punt Maragl Talstation. Here we took a cog rail up the hill to Muottas Muragl. The panorama shot (linked at the bottom of the thumbnails page) was taken there. From here we trekked up to Piz Languard, on the way trekking on some rather narrow gravel paths with relatively steep descents on the right; the technical term, our guide Daniel explained, is 'exposure'. Trekked back to the hotel in Pontresina.
